Welcome to the East Metro League!

General Information:
We have 15 teams in the league this season and there will be 4 teams in three pools and 3 teams in one pool for the next 3 dates. During all playdates, teams will play three matches each day and will ref one or two matches.  On the last playdate we will utilize a tournament style format, where the teams will be seeded based on their record from the first 4 playdates.  The champion of the league will be determined by who places first in the tournament.

League Play Rules

1. Volleylite balls will be used in all matches and net height will be set at 7ft (the standard height for 12 and under competition.)

2. Teams will play 3 sets in each match regardless of the outcome in the first 2 sets.  The first two sets will be played to 25 with a cap at 27 and the third set will be played to 15 with a cap of 17.

3. The serving line will be moved in 6ft on every court. Players must start with both feet behind the line, but may take one step in the court on contact with the ball. Please note that players who toss the ball in front of them and need to place both feet inside the court to contact with the ball will be called for a foot fault.  For those girls that can serve just fine without needing the extra modification, please encourage them to stay behind the modified line completely when serving.

4. Tally sheets will be used instead of the official scoring book to keep scoring as simple as possible. Officiating teams will need to provide an adult up ref who has completed Level 3 NCR Officiating Training. Teams are also required to provide 2 line judges, a down ref (should be a player), and player to mark the score sheet, a player to flip the scoreboard. There must be an adult at the scorer's table during all sets to ensure proper scoring is kept during the games. This adult can be a coach or a parent. EML does not track libero switches. When filling out the scoresheet, we ask that the adult at the table print the full name of the teams playing as listed on the schedule as we will have multiple teams playing from the same clubs.

5. Subs will be unlimited. Coaches are still required to request a sub and have the player coming off the court and the coming on the court go through the substitution zone. Because the officiating team will not be tracking substitutions, the player coming onto the court can go immediately to their spot as long as they pass throught the substitution zone. Because we are allowing unlimited substitutions, we ask that Coaches maintain the interity of the serving order and only allow players to serve in one rotation of the six.

6. Warm-up times are as follows: 10 minutes for the first 2 matches (2 minutes shared, 4 min serving team, 4 minutes receiving team.) All other matches will be an 8 minute warm-up (2 minutes shared, 3 minutese serving team, 3 minutes receiving team.) All teams will need to serve within their warm-up time.

7. Clocks: Clocks should start at the completion of the captain's meeting, starting the official warm-up time. After warm-ups have concluded they should be set for 30 second timeouts and for 3 minutes inbetween each set.

8. Please get the next match started as soon as the previous match is finished to keep everything on time. coaches and parents should make sure they know what their team does next so they do not fall behind.

9. Each team is responsible for bringing their own volleyballs for warm-ups.

10. We ask that parents, players and coaches pick up after yourselves when leaving the seating area and the schools.  Please help to keep each program's custodian costs down by making sure there are no wrappers, bottles, spills, etc on the ground or in the seating areas.
